Biomedical Engineering Feedback Report

Issue date: 4/29/08 Section: News
On Monday March 10, there was a feedback session for the Biomedical Engineering department at Fenster Hall. Fifteen people attended the feedback session. Food and refreshments were provided. The meeting started off with a summarization of the concerns addressed during the last feedback session and a review in how the BME department responded to them followed.
The students then talked about the classes they had problems with regarding the grading system and the professors, and how there is a lack there of professors in the BME department. The main issue throughout the feedback session, however, was whether or not certain classes are still offered - such as electives or mandatory classes, which shows that students are not aware of the changes being made in the curriculum.
The common hour, green classes, and the tuition increase issues were addressed and discussed.
During the second half of the feedback session, Dr. Max Roman discussed the BME BS/MS program. Roman discussed what requirements would enable students into the program and why it is a great and beneficial opportunity for juniors and seniors alike to apply. He answered many questions regarding the program since the majority of the students were juniors and seniors.
Lastly, Dr. William Hunter answered any other questions or concerns the students had. He talked about the ABET process, and reported that we are in good standing and that the BME program will be accredited.
All questions or concerns should be addressed to Suji Sampath, Biomedical Engineering Representative, at ss476@njit.edu.
